This informal survey will
look at whether residents who live or lived near Alsco Park (The Lindane
Dump site) have experienced more certain health problems than people
who did not live near the site. The first step is to locate those
who live or have lived near the site to participate in this survey.
We would especially like to survey people who were children in the
late 1940's to the early 1980's and grew up near the site and their
children. New residents to the area will not be included in the survey
as they not had long term exposure to chemicals buried there. This
survey is for the Natrona Heights area and the surrounding towns including
Arnold, Brackenridge, Creighton, Freeport, Leechburg, Lower Burrell,
Natrona, New Kensington, Russellton, Sardis, Springdale, Tarentum,
and Vandergrift.
While no survey can provide
answers about all health risks, sharing the results with former residents
and their families might be helpful. If a group of former residents
did not experience similar health problems then the study results
may offer some assurance. If similarities are found then advice to
individuals and their physicians may lead to early diagnosis and treatment.
If the results are inconclusive then they may still point the way
for future research.
